Ethanol: hydrous price is slightly higher at the end of July

Hydrated ethanol prices rose slightly last week, according to a report released by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea/Esalq-USP). Between the 24th and 28th of July, the Cepea/Esalq hydrated ethanol indicator ended at R$ 2.1072 per liter (net of ICMS and PIS/Cofins), representing an increase of 0.51% in relation to the previous week.

According to information from Cepea, the increase in hydrous ethanol prices takes place in a context in which the demand for fuels showed a slight increase in the last week. This scenario is driven by the expectation of an increase in the price of gasoline at refineries and the return to school, which tends to increase movement on the roads.

On the other hand, anhydrous ethanol recorded a drop of 0.68% in the same period. The Cepea/Esalq indicator for anhydrous ethanol closed at R$2.6230 per liter, net of taxes (PIS/Cofins). This drop may be related to a greater supply of this type of ethanol on the market or to seasonal factors that influence its price.
