Accumulated cane crushing in the Center-South in 22/23 grows 3.8%

Sugarcane crushing in the first half of February in the Center-South region reached 73.18 thousand tons

Sugarcane crushing in the Center-South of Brazil totaled 542.47 million tons in the 2022/23 harvest, from April 2022 to the first half of February 2023, compared to 522.62 million tons recorded in the same period of the 2021/22 season.

The performance corresponds to an increase of 3.8% between the two periods, informed the Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Union (Unica), in a survey released this Monday, 27.

Accumulated since the beginning of the 2022/2023 harvest, sugar production by the mills totals 33.50 million tons, compared to 32.06 million tons in the previous cycle, representing an increase of 4.5%.

On the other hand, the quality of the raw material harvested in the harvest, measured in kilograms of ATR per ton of processed sugarcane, registers a decrease of 1.29% in the annual comparison, with the indicator marking 141.15 kg of ATR per ton.

The accumulated alcohol mix for the current crop year is 54.08%, down from 2021/22, when it registered 54.97%.

The manufacture of alcohol in the period reached 28.09 billion liters (+3.61%), of which 16.12 billion of hydrated ethanol (-0.56%) and 11.98 billion of anhydrous (+9.81% ), compared to the accumulated result for the 2021/22 harvest.

Of the total biofuel manufactured since the beginning of the harvest, corn ethanol production reached 3.84 billion liters, an increase of 26.35% compared to the same period last year.
